Promo: Chuck Love ft Colette – UR Everything + (S&B Rmxs)

27 01 2010

Got this in the mailbox today. Sorry folks. Can’t give up the link. Here’s my take on the release though.

I’ve been waiting for this since I heard it on Santiago & Bushido’s Fall 2009 mix.

Love the different styles on the release. The S&B mixes hit right home for me. That sinister bassline and ghostly vocals work perfectly together. Great piece of work! Will definitely play this out!

Being the old school head that I am I like the original versions as well. Classic house flavor. Chicago and San Francisco come to mind. Colette’s vocals are really nice and soothing.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Love Network Rework. The “metal” edge works and would work on any alternate rock station for sure. Needs a video to go with it. Nice job!

Congrats to Chuck Love on his first label release. Success!

Read the descriptions below (it sums up the release pretty well) and cop this when it comes out.

Chuck Love teams up with the leading lady of Dance Music, Colette, to deliver his first release, UR EVERYTHING, on his new label, LOVE NETWORK. With remixes by Chuck as well as Santiago & Bushido, the package offers something for any lover of electronic music. For the old school House Music Fans, Chuck offers up his Main Mix (along with a Radio Edit) full of signature Chuck Love melodies layered with Colette’s signature, angelic lyrics. The Love Network Rework offers a ‘rocked out/pedal to the metal’ version of the track, complete with live instruments and a unique vision of what the original track could have been (stuck in a snow storm in June in Minneapolis). For the Tech House lovers, Santiago & Bushido’s Rubdown is a beater at it’s finest; white light, white heat, designed to melt the audience with a Rubdown Edit with the same flavor and a little less vocal. Lastly, for those Fans who appreciate a more stripped down, hypnotic beat – the Hybrid Dub; guaranteed to work the dancefloor into a frenzy.

HiJack VS Santiago & Bushido: Way Back EP

19 01 2010

Just landed in my mailbox!

CHICAGO—What happens when three of Potty Mouth Music’s most established producers team up in their first ever studio collaboration?  Think samples, synths and instrumentation galore. The end result is “Way Back EP,” a four-track mix of house, percussive and peak-hour grooves that draw influences from the distinct styles of PMM’s Jon Chant (HiJack) and Chris Santiago and Tim Bushido (Santiago & Bushido).

The inception of PMM 033 dates back to spring 2009, when UK-native HiJack toured the States on the strength of his “Jackpot” (PMM05) and “Keep It Real”(PMM 022) EPs. Between gigs, he caught up with Chicago-based production duo Santiago & Bushido and settled in for some studio time.

“The result was Way Back, which is a track all three of us made together,” Bushido says.

A series of overseas emails soon yielded two remixes—one completely done by HiJack and another styled solely by S&B. “Putting it Down,” the EP’s other original track, was also crafted through a collaborative series of audio exchanges. “Jon started it and got the core of the track—we beefed it up a bit and added our trademarks to it and mixed it down,” Bushido says.

The EP’s original title track pays homage to HiJack’s quirky hooks and heavy grooves while S&B add their signature build-up to the sound. The classic, a cappella house vox pulses with an organic groove framed by the backdrop of synths and drums. On the remix tip, HiJack takes a stripped down house approach, showcasing a vocal sample that sums the track best: “We used to jack our body to the beat.”

For their remix of the title track, S&B bring back the sound that made them famous on PMM releases including “For What EP” (PMM04) and “For the People” (PMM10). Huge club build-ups, insane breakdowns, and dark, driving synths give their version of “Way Back” plenty of big room bite. The trio polishes off the EP with the unexpected “Putting it Down,” a collaborative effort that spun some house-heavy results.

“It’s definitely a groover for house heads with some fresh samples and chunky beats,” HiJack quips.

As veteran roster mainstays, HiJack and Santiago & Bushido say “Way Back EP” stays true to the Potty Mouth sound while bringing a fresh sound to label and club fans alike.

“We’re three of Potty Mouth’s core artists who are bringing tracks together that are dirty but still keep that house groove,” Bushido says. “And the remixes give you more of what we are doing independently as artists—which is always something new.”

“Way Back EP” is now available exclusively on beatport.com for the next four weeks.

Santiago & Bushido UWLMF EP plus Mix

23 06 2009

Santiago & Bushido Return to Potty Mouth Music with “UWLMF EP” and “Makeout Mixtape Sessions #02” + Dj Colette joins S&B on original track!

CHICAGO—On their fifth EP for Chicago-based digital label Potty Mouth Music, DJ/Producers Chris Santiago & Tim Bushido push their evolving sound to new limits with the release of “UWLMF EP” and “Makeout Mixtape Sessions #02.” The 27th original EP on PMM not only delivers a spectrum of groove-heavy sounds that bang and bump through three distinct tracks, it also features kinetic vocals of DJ/Producer Colette slicing through the beat of the EP’s lead track, “Make Me Feel.”

Tapping Colette for their latest PMM project was a given for Santiago & Bushido, who collaborated on her 2007 artist album “Push.” In remixing a vocal sample from their original recording session, S&B meld voice and bassline to create a melodic track that delivers a big room jolt.

“I think it’s great we got to work with Colette again on something that’s a little trackier and reflects more of the Potty Mouth sound,” Bushido says on their studio collaboration.

Additionally, the track “Tell Me Why” pulses with the chuggy momentum of dark techno. A vocal loop puts a melodic spin on the sound, creating intricate musical layers that defy genre borders. The third and final track, “All I Can Say,” features minimal drums and basslines while showcasing a tough vocal sample driven by jabby beats.

Santiago & Bushido say the “UWLMF EP” is a reflection of how they have artistically grown as producers since debuting on the PMM rooster in 2007 as the label’s first artists.

“The S&B sound is always evolving and we like put out tracks that have longevity and don’t follow trends,” Santiago says. “I think over the years we have also been more open to listening to other types of genres than in previous years, which has also led to those sounds influencing what we produce.”

To complement their latest EP, S&B simultaneously will release their first official mix compilation “Makeout Mixtape Sessions #02,” a heady set of PMM tracks produced by some of the label’s most prominent talent. Following the success of “Makeout Mixtape Sessions #01” by PMM artist HiJack, S&B deliver another flawless mix of both original tracks and cuts from fellow artists including DJ Fame, Audiostalkers, The Bulgarian and Heavyfeet, to name a few.

PMM027 “UWLMF EP” will be available for purchase June 16 exclusively (for first 30 days) on Beatport.com. Those who download the entire ep will also get PMM’s latest continuous mix “Makeout Mixtape Sessions #02” for free with the download bundle. The mix will be available for direct purchase on iTunes in July 2009.

Beautiful Shadow (Santiago & Bushido RMX)

21 05 2009

Santiago & Bushido are responsible for one of those tracks that we ALWAYS have burnt off for sets, regardless of how old it is. Head Trick is a song that goes off pretty much everywhere we play, in any style of set, at any time, to any crowd = it’s fair to say it’s on our “Get Out of Jail Free” CD. The Chicago based duo, our label mates over at Potty Mouth, have been consistently putting out solid remixes and originals ever since then – and the latest people to get the benefit of their techy touch are ‘The Prairie Cartel’ (conjuring up strange images of the Ingall family from Little House getting embroiled in turf wars over cocaine distribution) to be released soon on Long Nights Impossible Odds. If you like what you hear, be sure to download the mixtape that the guys provided too!
