Tommie Sunshine & Figure! Brooklyn Fire Tracks!

28 01 2010

As you can tell the busy holidays put me into sort of a backlog so I’m clearing out  my mailbox of all these hot tracks that I slept on and giving them to you.  Here a few that our man Figure sent over. I’m really diggin this funky ass edit that he did with Tommie Sunshine.  Would love to see Tommie and Figure come out here to the Bay to spin.  Maybe  CF can make that happen. Hopefully.  For now, enjoy the heaters below.

Grateful Dead – Shakedown Street (Tommie Sunshine & Figure Brooklyn Fire edit) >

This is a dub step tune at 144 bpm that has two 4/4 change ups , very angry bass lines , and pattern switch ups all the way through.

San Francisco, CA 94105 brings “Community” back to the DJ.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA  – November 16th, 2009 – Mixcrate announced the official launch of an innovative and completely free, community based, site for DJs to share their mixes with peers and fans.
The feature rich, interactive, platform was designed as a simple to use tool to allow DJs to distribute their work globally on-line.  The site has a built-in rating system and allows members to comment and leave feedback on any of the mixes they choose.  DJs, who have uploaded their own material, can easily view a matrix of statistics on each of their mixes which include: number of times recommended, times played, times downloaded, and current number of comments.
In addition, to encourage a rapid dissemination of material, has integrated tools that allow members to easily share the mixes with any of their contacts on the popular social networking sites, including Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.

Chris Yee, founder of the Mixcrate website, describes the service as “… a music distribution platform that enables DJ artists and their fans to discover and share mixsets for the purposes of promoting DJs and their mixes online.”

“The community aspect of DJing has been an essential part of what’s been lost in the new age of digital technology…”, says partner Genghis Mendoza. “We’re creating a community for DJ’s to share and learn; an environment that fosters interactions between its members.  Those new to the trade, and the hobbyists, now have a safe place to gain insight from some of our legends.  Really, it’s all about sharing and innovation.”

Promo: Chuck Love ft Colette – UR Everything + (S&B Rmxs)

27 01 2010

Got this in the mailbox today. Sorry folks. Can’t give up the link. Here’s my take on the release though.

I’ve been waiting for this since I heard it on Santiago & Bushido’s Fall 2009 mix.

Love the different styles on the release. The S&B mixes hit right home for me. That sinister bassline and ghostly vocals work perfectly together. Great piece of work! Will definitely play this out!

Being the old school head that I am I like the original versions as well. Classic house flavor. Chicago and San Francisco come to mind. Colette’s vocals are really nice and soothing.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Love Network Rework. The “metal” edge works and would work on any alternate rock station for sure. Needs a video to go with it. Nice job!

Congrats to Chuck Love on his first label release. Success!

Read the descriptions below (it sums up the release pretty well) and cop this when it comes out.

Chuck Love teams up with the leading lady of Dance Music, Colette, to deliver his first release, UR EVERYTHING, on his new label, LOVE NETWORK. With remixes by Chuck as well as Santiago & Bushido, the package offers something for any lover of electronic music. For the old school House Music Fans, Chuck offers up his Main Mix (along with a Radio Edit) full of signature Chuck Love melodies layered with Colette’s signature, angelic lyrics. The Love Network Rework offers a ‘rocked out/pedal to the metal’ version of the track, complete with live instruments and a unique vision of what the original track could have been (stuck in a snow storm in June in Minneapolis). For the Tech House lovers, Santiago & Bushido’s Rubdown is a beater at it’s finest; white light, white heat, designed to melt the audience with a Rubdown Edit with the same flavor and a little less vocal. Lastly, for those Fans who appreciate a more stripped down, hypnotic beat – the Hybrid Dub; guaranteed to work the dancefloor into a frenzy.
